Our Story

About SkyRoad

Built by locals who love Iceland too much to let you miss the best of it.

We started SkyRoad because we kept watching tourists drive past the most spectacular places in Iceland — not because they didn't care, but because no one had told them what was there. We are mountain guides, search-and-rescue volunteers, and lifelong Icelanders. This is our home. We want you to see it properly.

How the app came to be

The SkyRoad app started as an internal tool we built for our own guided tours. When we saw how much it helped our guests avoid road closures and find hidden hot springs, we knew we had to share it. It's free. It works offline. And it knows Iceland better than any general-purpose map.
